Crazy?! Yes, I understand this is a crazy adventure we have put in motion. Sunday was wonderful. Danny was off so I was able to sleep in and take my time getting out for my long run. I had 12 miles to do and wanted to do it under 3 hours. Slow and steady. I was going to try a few things new for this run and didn't want to push to hard. In my online ladies group I had heard about something called
"sportlegs".
Sportlegs-Lactaid Acid Transfer Formula, 120ct
Product Description
A smart supplement to start with. No faster or healthier way to prevent muscle "burn" and next-day soreness..

The jury is still out on this product.
The second thing I was trying was the camelbak hydration. I can say that I really liked this a lot and will be using it again for long runs. No holding a water bottle anymore, ya.
My long runs are my time to reflect over the past week. I don't like them rushed or having to worry about anything but me getting in the miles. It's not always that easy but this week it just all came into place. On mile 2, I ran by a snake but thankfully some guy in front of me hit it first. Mile 4, I came across a couple that was walking their dog. The guy had a ironman shirt on. No, I don't know if it was a finisher or what city. I'm new at this stuff, ok. I was just getting into the pace that I wanted and making good time. I waved at the couple and shouted "I'm signed up for Galveston". The guy laughed and gave me a high five wave and shouted "good luck with that". Really, dude? Good luck with that. It only made me more determine to get the miles in.
Reflection on that run: I realized that people are going think I've got two heads when they hear we are doing an ironman. Especially when they ask how many triathlon we have done. I have decided not to do the Dallas full marathon and focus more on training for the 70.3. Triathlons and marathons are so different. Training for either is like another full time job. I have two half marathons in October and really want to spend more time learning more about the elements of triathlons. I've got the running part down and need to get in the water. It's a count down till April.
