Recovery week

Recovery week is a key part to training. The Recovery Week gives your muscles, joints and connective tissues the time they need to repair and get stronger, and for your body to come back from the edge. It is possible, even likely, that you will start feeling tired, or vulnerable, by the fourth week of adding mileage or Density, which is a sign that you need to take that recovery week. This past week was my recovery week. I have to say I really don't like recovery week at all. I need the vitamin D and the endorphins that running gives me. Just saying it makes me a better person to be around. Nothing around my life dull at all. This past weekend should have been a easy 6 miles from the previous weekend of 12 miles. That didn't happen for a few reasons.  I've had an upper respiratory infection and on medication for the last 10 days and still feeling pain in my chest. I've now had to get back in the swing of things that 3 yr olds do, like birthday parties & play dates. I also learned the hard way that if you try to take out a yard art of a bumble bee to catch a runaway kid you may get hurt. 😐 I have bruises on both knees, hip and no skin on one knee. Ouch!  So recovery week came just in time so i could heal and regroup for the two upcoming races in October. It seems I did indeed need recovery week.
