I truly believe that God puts people in our lives for a reason. It could even be for a season. I owe a co-worker for asking me to go to this crazy ladies only workout class at 5:30 am. I am NOT a morning person. I work 2 miles from home and still have a hard time getting to work on time. This Co-worker bought a Groupon that she didn't need and told Danny she wanted me to use it. Of course Danny was heck yea. Danny was already starting to run a little and look at our food choices. He had this crazy brief thought he was going to do a spartan race. (Brief) my Co-worker, we will call her Nellie. Nellie has a strong personality so after a few weeks I gave in and went. The ladies, hear me roar, class became the most pivotal starting point in my transformation. The fabulous coaches changed my life. It was more than just working out. I learned not only workout, self esteem, nutrition and how to love my curves but to love the body that God gave me. It was like I had a life coach something a big box gym could never offer me. Nellie was right beside me encouraging in her own way. It was sometimes hard to deal with the police type personality while at work. Why you eating that? That's not what coach told us to do, what happen this morning? Why didn't you come to class? Not only was I dealing with 4 day workouts but 40 hours at work with Nellie. Nellie was a runner at heart. She had done races all over the country and had the bling to prove it. Our body types are totally on different sides of the stratosphere. I'm more curvy and she is very thin. When Nellie asked if I would do a half marathon with her I was sure what the heck. Danny & I signed up for the wounded warrior and training started with Nellie. Danny did his own plan while I worked with Nellie. Boy did I work. She had spreedsheets, training articles, emails that she sent me to keep me motivated. Plus don't forget 3-4x a week of our ladies class. Let's just say looking back it was a shock to my body pushing so hard to fast. BUT looking back if it wasn't for Nellie I really truly don't think I would be training for 2 half marathon, 1 full marathon and 70.3 ironman. I owe it to her for the push. She taught me the ins and outs of the culture of those running sport. Yesterday Nellie moved to be near her grandbaby and I will never forget what she did for me. God put her in my life for a season to get my big butt off the couch. He knew that 2 years later I would need all the strength, endurance, patience to list a few things to start over and raise our grandson. I'll miss Nellie.
